In the past 40 years of reform and opening up,China’s economy has developed rapidly.However,high-speed economic growth has caused damage to China’s natural environment, and even residents in some areas have reduced their life span due to environmental pollution. The state uses environmental regulations to coordinate economic development and environmental pollution, creating a comfortable living space for residents. However,in the process of implementation, because China’s overall situation is still in developing countries and the economic development level of different regions is quite different, environmental regulation may form some inhibition on economic development, and thus whether it can improve residents’ happiness. Can’t be generalized. This paper uses the national adult questionnaire data in the CFPS(2012,2014,2016)data,and uses the literature analysis method, theoretical analysis method and empirical analysis method to construct the panel ordered logit model, from the perspective of environmental regulation.Exploring its impact on residents’ well-being and the difference in happiness between different groups of people. This paper uses the empirical results obtained by regression to combine it with the status quo of the domestic environmental regulation system to provide reference policy recommendations for government personnel. This paper consists of six parts. The first chapter is the introduction part of this paper.According to the actual situation, the relationship between environmental regulation and residents’ subjective well-being and its research background are expounded. The theoretical basis of the main theme of this paper is compiled, and the impact of environmental regulation and economic growth and economic growth on public happiness is elaborated. The main research contents, overall ideas and research methods used are detailed. The second chapter mainly reviews the literature on the relationship between happiness and environmental pollution and economic growth,as well as the impact of environmental regulation on the environment and economy, and gives a corresponding summary. The third chapter analyzes the current situation of China’s environmental regulation and the status quo of Chinese residents’ subjective well-being.The fourth chapter analyzes the data of this paper and gives the theory and hypothesis of this paper. In the fourth chapter, under the conditions of data introduction and theoretical hypothesis, the panel ordered logit model is used to analyze the panel data synthesized by CFPS data and macroeconomic data and environmental regulation data.Based on the results, the impact of environmental regulation on residents’ well-being was analyzed.Based on this,2012 was used as a reference group to analyze the impact of environmental regulations in 2014 and 2016 on residents’ well-being.The fifth chapter analyzes the differences in happiness and the change of happiness caused by environmental regulation based on different age, gender, marital status and political appearance. And briefly explore the conduction path between subjective well-being and environmental regulation. The sixth chapter gives relevant policy recommendations based on the sample research results and the orderly regression analysis results obtained in the above five parts, mainly from how to improve the environmental regulation system, save environmental protection costs, improve government efficiency, and improve residents’ happiness index.Suggestions on other aspects. The analysis of this paper shows that:(1)In terms of the relationship between residents’ subjective well-being and environmental regulation, there is a negative externality between environmental regulation and happiness, that is,the correlation coefficient between environmental regulation and residents’ happiness.Negative, but as time dimensions change, the negative externalities of environmental regulation on the subjective well-being of residents are decreasing. This conclusion is not completely consistent with the traditional cognition that environmental regulation brings happiness to residents.(2)According to the sampled samples, the influence of environmental regulation on subjective well-being of residents of different ages, places of residence and regions is quite different, but the overall impact of environmental regulation on the happiness of each group is consistent with the above. When grouped by age, older people may be affected less often. In fact, for the region, the impact of environmental regulation on the happiness of residents in the eastern coastal areas and the residents in the central and western regions is still slightly different.Through the comparison of the place of residence,it is found that the environmental regulation has a relatively small impact on the environmental regulation of the rural residents’ happiness. In this paper,by combining micro-individual features with macroeconomic variables, the relationship between environmental regulation and residents’ happiness is studied by using panel-based logit regression. The conduction path between the two is briefly analyzed.Compared with most empirical studies, this paper focuses on the exploration and value orientation of research perspectives.
