The Research On The Extension And Application Of Memphis Expression Forms In Fashion Design

The design activities have experienced a long history of accumulation and development,during which the birth,alternation and deduction of different design groups and their design ideas enrich the connotation of the design.Among them,the Memphis design group,one of the post-modernist art schools,with its open design concept,breaks the stereotypes and has a widespread influence on the worldwide design area.Therefore,this paper mainly studies on the expression forms of Memphis,and extends it in clothing design.Through the study on extension and application of Memphis expression forms,it brings new ideas to fashion design.This paper is divided into three parts.In the first part,it mainly studies the Memphis design.Through reading the collection of relevant research of Memphis to understand the basic connotation and design concept of Memphis,extracts the artistic viewpoints of Memphis which are anti-industry,anti-rank and anti-function.Then through analyzing Memphis design works,classified and summarized the Memphis expression forms under each artistic viewpoint.According to these forms,the design techniques of destruction,unbalanced,role reverse,dimension crossing,bionic imitation and geometric color collision were obtained.The second part mainly studies the extension and application of Memphis on fashion design.Transforming Memphis design technique which extracted from the first part into the fashion design technique,applying these forms in fashion design with examples,so to guide the clothing design.The third part is about integrating theory with practice.Combining the expression forms and design techniques of Memphis,do the design practice so to verify theory in turn.The research on the extension and application of Memphis expression forms brings a broader vision to fashion design.In addition,by discussing this topic,it also provides inspiration to explore the extension and application of other design schools to modern fashion design.
