The Design And Implementation Of Stitch Generation And Management System For The Irregular Needling Embroidery

Irregular needling embroidery is a unique Chinese traditional craft combining with western painting skills,which has a strong sense of stereoscopic artistic effect and unique process.Due to the complex process of irregular needling embroidery,it is difficult to accumulate handmade creation experience,and it faces situation of creator shortage,low productivity,lack of inheritor,etc.Therefore,computer-aided irregular embroidery becomes a urgent technical for promoting its industrial development and preserving the craft.In this paper,based on the current situation of irregular needling embroidery,we analyze the problems should be solved in computer-aided creating.By making use of existing non-photorealistic rendering techniques,we research deeply and systematically on the stitch to solve the problem of definition,notation,recognition and classification.On basis of these results,an appropriate system has been designed and implemented for stitch management.The main contributions of this paper are:(1)Design a definition system of stitch for the irregular needling embroidery.Based on the research of stitch,which consist of a set of lines with different artistic styles that drawn by users,we propose a category system of stitch and design a definition system of stitch with a combination of image-space and object-space to define,then define some certain stitches.Moreover,we provide users the special characteristics of the irregular needling embroidery.(2)Propose a classification model of stitch for the irregular needling embroidery.With definition and description of stitch,we introduce a classification model of stitch,which classifies the stitches on information of image-space and object-space.Experiments show the effectiveness of our method and we can classify stitches drawn by users to the corresponding artistic styles.(3)Provide a management model of stitch for the irregular needling embroidery.In order to achieve effective stitch management,we make use of database to manage of different categories of stitches.A tree structure has been built to show stitches in a hierarchical way,so that it is more convenient to search the target stitch.Meanwhile,we provide users with convenient ways of interaction to express their further intention and then rebuild the stitch tree according to it.(4)Designation and implementation of stitch management system for the irregular needling embroidery.Based on the research of stitch,we design and implement the management system.From the perspective of software development,we reasonably analyze system requirements,design system architecture,and illustrate the main functions of the system through several examples.The system can provide users with a preliminary tool for the irregular needling embroidery.
