Graphene is a kind of two dimensional carbon nanomaterials composed of the monolayer of sp2 carbon atoms tightly packed in hexagonal symmetry.It has ideal lattice structure and possesses unique electrical,mechanical,optical and thermal properties,showing promising applications in nanoelectronic device,chemical/biological sensors,solar cells,supercapacitors,lithium-ion batteries and composites,which makes it an ideal filler to prepare polymer composites.In the present study,we used graphene oxide(GO)or reduced graphene oxide(rGO)to reinforce natural rubber(NR)and nitrile butadiene rubber(NBR).The preparation,interfacial structure,mechanical properties of these composites was systematically investigated.1.In the first part,graphite was oxidized by modified Hummers method to produce graphite oxide which was exfoliated to form stable suspension of GO in water.NR/NBR/GO composites were successfully fabricated by latex co-coagulation technology.The characteristic of GO were analyzed by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy,Scanning Electron Microscope,X-ray Diffraction,Raman Spectroscopy and Thermogravimetric analysis.The results confirm GO contains large amount of oxygen functional group;GO was well exfoliated and dispersed in NR/NBR,which is important to the improvement of composite property.SEM observations confirm GO is homogeneously dispersed in composites and the stretching section of composites becomes rough obviously.Analysis on vulcanization characteristics indicate that the cross-linking density of the NR/NBR/GO composite increased with GO content increased.The last,with the increase of GO concentration,the mechanical property of NR/NBR/GO composites increases too;when NR/NBR/GO composites containing 3 wt%GO,the tensile strength,tensile stress at 100%and shore A hardness of NR/NBR/GO composites increase 53.3%,67.3%and 10.5%,respectively;the elongation at break decreases 9.6%.2.Reduced graphene oxide was synthesized via chemical reduction of GO with hydrazine hydrate.NR/NBR/rGO composites were prepared by latex co-coagulation technology.The characteristic of rGO were analyzed by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy,Scanning Electron Microscope,X-ray Diffraction,Raman Spectroscopy and Thermogravimetric analysis.The results confirm Oxygen functional group can be removed by reduction with hydrazine hydrate;SEM observations confirm rGO is homogeneously dispersed in composites and the stretching section of composites becomes rough obviously.Analysis on vulcanization characteristics indicate that the cross-linking density of the NR/NBR/rGO composite is increasing with rGO content.The mechanical properties of NR/NBR/rGO compsites have been greatly improved after the addition of rGO,when NR/NBR/rGO composites containing 3 wt%rGO,the tensile strength,tensile stress at 100%and shore A hardness of NR/NBR/rGO composites increase 65.7%,90.3%and 21.1%,respectively;the elongation at break decreases 13.1%.
