Shinisaurus crocodilurus(Etnst Ahl,1930)is a rare and endangered animal in China.Research about the relationship between communication and kin selection might help us make a better management in breeding and releasing into the wild The experimental animals were captive breeding Shinisaurus crocodilurus juvenile and female adult in Daguishan Nature Reserve,Guangxi. Our study focused on the social communication among juvenile(less than one year of birth)based on kin selection, and this study included two experiments. The experimental results are as follows:1.Research on the relationship between social communication and kin discrimination between Shinisaurus crocodilurus juvenile and female adultThe experimental animals were 63 captive breeding Shinisaurus crocodilurus, including 30 juvenile and 33 female adult,in Daguishan Nature Reserve,Guangxi. We conducted 90 selection experiments, and the experimental result shows 30 groups of juvenile chose their mothers,10 groups of juvenile chose unfamiliar adult females,23 groups of juvenile chose the control, and 27 groups of juvenile did not make the choice. Then we analysis experimental data by multinomial logistic regression in R software, the analysis results show that the significant situations occurred only when mother-side was in the middle(P=0.000137***)or right(P=0.052130)side,at the same time, when the mother-side in the middle, the result of larval choose unfamiliar female is also significant(P=0.052130).Assuming that the juvenile have the preference to choose their own biological mother, the result of the selection experiment should be that the juvenile will make the decision to choose their ownmother no matter where their mother is,so this indicates that the juvenile don't prefer to choose their own mother.2.Research on the relationship between social communication and kin discrimination among the Shinisaurus crocodilurus juvenileThe experimental animals were 36 captive breeding Shinisaurus crocodilurus juvenile in Daguishan Nature Reserve,Guangxi. We conducted 36 selection experiments, and the experimental result shows 15 groups of juvenile chose their sibling,12 groups of juvenile chose non-sibling,8 groups of juvenile chose the control, and 1 groups of juvenile did not make the choice. Then we analysis experimental data by multinomial logistic regression in R software, the analysis results show that when the juvenile faced the sibling and non-sibling,the results of the selection of their own siblings were not significant regardless of the location of the sibling.Assuming that the juvenile have the preference to choose their sibling, the result of the selection experiment should be that the juvenile will make the decision to choose their sibling no matter where their sibling is,so this indicates that the juvenile don't prefer to choose their sibling. In summary, our experimental results indicate that captive breeding juvenile don't tend to stay with their mothers and siblings out of kinship, that is,juvenile don't have the preference to choose their mothers and siblings.
