The development of urbanization and increasing construction activities have exacerbated the impact on the ecological environment and caused greater climate risks to cities.At the same time,related researches such as ecosystem services and blue-green infrastructure have brought opportunities and potential for the improvement of urban climate resilience.The concept of natural solution for sustainable urban development came into being when contemporary cities faced various development problems,and related practices have begun to be carried out worldwide.This paper studies how to apply the emerging method of natural solutions to urban design to solve the increasing risks of climate disasters facing cities and reduce the economic and environmental losses caused by disasters.Aiming at this research content,this paper starts from three aspects: the mechanism of action,strategic framework,and method of application of natural solutions in climate resilient urban design.In the study of the mechanism of action,first of all,the theories related to the design of climate resilient cities and natural solutions are combed.Secondly,from the perspective of climate scale and duration,the three types of climate resilience studied in this paper are proposed: meso-micro extreme climate change,meso-scale conventional climate pressure,and site-scale conventional climate pressure.Secondly,sort out the principles of urban design influencing climate and natural solutions to enhance the principles of urban climate resilience,and propose four spatial elements that affect urban climate: points,lines,areas,networks,and climate resilience diversity,connectivity and adaptability attributes.Finally,the mechanism of natural solutions for different types of climate resilience is proposed.After exploring the mechanism of action,a strategic framework was proposed for this.In terms of strategic framework research,the ideas,contents and design principles of natural solutions applied in climate resilient urban design were extracted from cases implemented in many countries around the world in recent years.First of all,according to the above spatial elements and climate resilience attributes,four ideas for climate resilience urban design are proposed: enhancing structural diversity and redundancy,enhancing regional connectivity and modularity,enhancing corridor connectivity and pressure resistance,Enhance the diversity and pressure resistance of space monomer.Secondly,it explores the urban design content of natural pathways related to climate from macro to micro,and details the specific content of each level and its specific impact on climate resilience design.Finally,the principles of climate resilience urban design including three levels of orientation,decision-making and design are proposed.In the research of methods and approaches,starting from the enhanced attributes of climate resilience,the corresponding urban spatial elements are selected,and different natural solutions are applied.The methods and approaches for applying natural solutions to urban design under the three types of climate resilience proposed above are proposed.First of all,this paper proposes three application methods for protection and restoration of disaster risk surfaces that enhance diversity connectivity,protection and restoration of coastal resilience surfaces that enhance adaptability,and gray infrastructure lines that enhance adaptability.Secondly,according to the mesoconventional climate pressure,three application methods are proposed: urban structure network restoration and reconstruction with enhanced diversity,ecological network reconstruction with enhanced connectivity and adaptability,and urban corridor surface restoration and reconstruction with enhanced adaptability.Finally,according to the microscopic conventional climate pressure,three application methods are proposed: street line reconstruction to enhance the adaptability of diversity connectivity,reconstruction of ecological building points to enhance the adaptability of diversity,and reconstruction of concave green sites to enhance diversity and adaptability.And for these three types of design methods,specific implementation methods are given.
