Review On Ancient Starch Research In China And Abroad

Archaeobotany is the main research method to study the way of ancient human life and the origin and development of ancient agriculture,including three major research methods: plant relics,phytolith analysis and starch grain analysis.Among them,the starch granules is relatively late in archeological research,but it made up for the research objects and research fields that were not covered by plant remains and phytolith analysis,enriching the research contents of plant archaeology.In recent years,the analysis of starch granules around the world has continued,in ancient human diet and evolution,ancient human plant-based food identification,ancient non-agricultural plant utilization,crop origin and spread,utensil functions,etc.,have achieved many important insights.With the continuous deepening of the research,the defects and limitations of this research have gradually emerged.Many scholars have conducted in-depth discussions on the sources and discrimination of starch granules,the accuracy and reliability of species identification,and made some important understanding.The deepening of these discussions and the acquisition of knowledge are conducive to the improvement of starch granule analysis methods.It can also be said that this research method is the only way to gradually mature.Based on the comprehensive collection of domestic and foreign starch granule analysis and research data,this paper systematically sorts out the research results of domestic and foreign starch granule analysis,and combines current reflective work to put forward some thoughts and understandings on domestic starch granule research work,so as to promote.I hope to promote the widespread application of this research method in domestic archaeological research.This article is divided into five parts.The first part: Introduction.Firstly,the reasons for the topic selection are clarified,and the research summary of starch granule analysis work at home and abroad is reviewed,and the significance of the topic is explained.The second part: an overview of ancient starch granule analysis.Explain the basic principles of ancient starch granule analysis,and introduce the extraction method of starch granules in different ancient samples.The third part including: starch granule research in different regions,such as the Americas,Oceania,Africa,Asia except China,Europe.Starch grains of different archaeological materials are studied,among which artifact,dental calculus and soil sediments are representative.Finally,the main research directions and progress of foreign starch granules are listed: ancient human diet analysis focusing on the feeding evolution of Neanderthal,prehistoric plant utilization and the refinement of early agricultural origins for African Paleolithic The use of human plants in the early and middle stages of the era,the use of American corn and rhizomes,the origin and domestication of West Asian wheat and barley,and the domestication and spread of tuberous plants in Oceania.The fourth part: the progress of research on ancient Chinese starch granules.According to the regional division,the domestic research on ancient starch granules is divided into four parts: the Yellow River Basin,the Yangtze River Basin,South China and Northeast China.According to the main research direction,the domestic research on ancient starch granules mainly focuses on: the study of Chinese agricultural origin,which is divided into the origin and domestication of millet plants in northern regions,the rice domestication process in southern regions,and the utilization of tuber roots in South China;And its function research;ancient human plant food identification;ancient non-agricultural plant utilization.The fifth part: domestic starch granule research thinking and prospects.The first section is to consider the status quo of domestic starch granule research through foreign articles,such as the control of pollution and the age determination of ancient starch granules,which should be paid attention to in China,and strengthen the control of similar problems or further detailed discussion.The final section on the prospect of domestic starch granule work.
