Research On The Strategy Of Shipping Pool Based On Game Theory

Shipping Pool as a more and more popular mode of ship operation in the shipping market in recent years,which is managed and controlled by the pool manager,intends to integrate a group of ships with similar ship types from different ship owners and operates as a single fleet in the shipping market to obtain joint revenue,and then shares it with each ship owner.However,the pool has been controversial in terms of income distribution and business strategy.Therefore,the strategy of setting the rating standard is the key factor to affect the success of the pool.In view of this,from the perspective of pool managers,this paper makes a study on the strategy of shipping pool rating standards,aiming at providing effective management suggestions for pool managers.Firstly,the paper outlines the way in which the profits are distributed according to the Vessel Rating of each ship in the pool,and draws the conclusion that the scoring standard of the ship's operational status is the key issue of the pool's operational strategy.Then,it analyses the stakeholders in the pool,and clarifies the interests and contradictions between the pool managers and the owners.Based on this,a static game model between pool managers and shipowners is established,Nash equilibrium under different parameters is obtained,and the results are analyzed.It is concluded that it is difficult for shipowners to achieve sound development without corresponding reward and punishment measures,and that pool can promote shipowners to adopt positive strategies by formulating appropriate incentives.On this basis,the evolutionary game model between different shipowners in pool is established.The evolutionary process and stabilization strategy(ESS)of the game in each case,and the evolutionary conclusions under different parameter scenarios are drawn.Finally,a case study is conducted based on the actual data of Sigma pool in HEIDMAR.The consistency between the results and the situation analysis results proves the validity of the model.Suggestions are made for the management strategies of the ship pool managers.The research shows that the pool managers should manage from two aspects,that is,to formulate a reasonable way to improve the ship rating,to increase properly the ship owner's ship rating due to active improvement,to effectively publicize and update the ship information in time,and to make timely use of the market competitiveness of the ship due to improvement.The conclusion of this paper can be used as a theoretical basis for pool managers to formulate business strategies.
