Zhu Kezhen’s Phenological Research And Its Impact

Zhu Kezhen has many research fields,but the research of phenology runs through his life.Phenology,by definition is equivalent to bioclimatology,as the country that makes phenological records firstly in the world,China has not developed a study of phenology in modern sense,until Zhu Kezhen comes back to China after his study in the US.In the age when phenology has became a hot research topic around the world,Zhu Kezhen creates the modern phenology of China by combining the western phenology as well as the traditional Chinese phenological law and records.Zhu Kezhen’s research of phenology,compared to the western ones and the traditional Chinese method,makes innovations in research methodology,research idea,theory and applications.Other than developing the modern phenology,Zhu Kezhen also contributes in creating modern phenological law,constructing the phenological observation network with a single standard,making phenological universal,and applying the phenological knowledge.His research of phenology does make a difference on development of China’s agriculture,biology and historical climatology.Research of phenology stagnates after Zhu Kezhen passes away.China’s phenological research,which keeps with the worlds’ s top level,falls behind of the Western party and even what China has reached before.The current academia views phenology a hot topic in researching the world climate change,which makes phenology study a worldwide concern.Therefore,systematically organize and study Zhu Kezhen’s phenological research as well as its current value,makes sense for the current Chinese academia.Moreover,the current time provides a good chance in digging the research of Zhu Kezhen,since the academia is reviewing Zhu Kezhen’s phenological research recently,and the long period phenological observation makes some achievements during the past 55 years.This article is divided into five parts.The first two paragraphs discuss the research background while the remaining parts contain the major contents,and in a parallel way,states the core idea.The third part focus on process and achievements of Zhu Kezhen’s phenological research,this part is meant to analyze the research field and importance of Zhu Kezhen’s work.The fourth paragraph discusses the develop and change of modern phenology,and further discover the status of phenological work,the discipline differentiation and inheritance by modern subjects,and possible future development.The last part discusses the impact of Zhu Kezhen’s phenological research,and further discovers its value in current year.The fourth paragraph states that after the death of Zhu Kezhen,China’s phenological research stagnates.Later on,influenced by the concept of discipline and knowledge classification,the foundational research of phenology developed by Zhu Kezhen experiences a discipline differentiation.Phenology has been refined as its research direction has turned towards sub-courses under agronomy and science.Moreover,the research objectives turns towards the micro directions,creating research fields of specific targets which mainly focus on plant phenology.The research of phenology has been inherited and further developed by modern disciplines,even though it has been differentiated.For example,Zhu Kezhen’s work affects biology,philosophy of science and technology,history of science,meteorology,cartography and geographical information system,arts,ancient Chinese literature,and study of Chinese ancient documents.Furthermore,with the help of modern technology,phenology could expand its application fields and experience changes in the future.The fifth part states that currently,Zhu Kezhen’s phenological research is still highly valuable in fields like agricultural,meteorology,life sciences,ecological civilization and industries such as culture,education,gardening,travelling,and medical care.To sum up,Zhu Kezhen’s phenological research makes great achievements and contribution.Inheritance and study based on the work still affect and boost the development of the related disciplines.
