The Research On David Pepper's Ecological View Of Nature And It's Contemporary Value

David Pepper is one of the representatives of the "left wing" who are engaged in the study of western ecological Marxism under the influence of Marxism's philosophy of nature.On the basis of drawing on the thought of natural view of Marxism' philosophy and reflecting on Frankfurt school's theory of ecological crisis and another ecological Marxism,the formation of his ecological view of nature is put forward by analyzing and criticizing natural views of anthropocentrism and eco-centrism in the thoughts of the postmodern green.Based on that read David Pepper's text of the ecological view of nature,tease the inner logic and basic spirit of his ecological view of nature,and explain that he criticize the inherent defects of anthropocentrism and eco-centrism,this paper reveals the theory purport and methodological innovation of David Pepper's ecological view of nature and its contemporary value from the angle of Marxism' environmental philosophy.1.From the point of clarifying the concept of nature,this paper reveals that David Pepper's nature is a "social nature" through the criticism of anthropocentrism' s concept of nature to be " mechanically composed and broken up" and eco-centrism's natural concept of "wilderness" with " no human and human history ".2.From the perspective of epistemological paradigm,by criticizing the "Cartesian" thinking paradigm of anthropocentrism and the "organic holistic" thinking paradigm of eco-centrism,this paper reveals that David pepper's epistemological paradigm is the "practice-based and tied" epistemological paradigm in the context of Marx's view of nature.3.From the point of ecological salvation,by criticizing the methodology of anthropocentrism's "doing something" with the "anything goes" and eco-centrism's "caring and fearing of nature and life" with " doing nothing",this paper reveals David Pepper's methodology of " Marx's historical materialism","society-natural dialectics " and theory of class' analysis and the practical approach of the " coalition of red and green ".4.From the perspective of ecological axiology,through criticizing the "three everything" and "three only" values of anthropocentrism and the "contradiction in axiology" of eco-centrism,this paper reveals David Pepper's view of anthropocentrism's values with sustainable,collective interests and humanitarian.5.David Pepper's above mentioned theory viewpoints of ecological natural view have its limitation and "Utopian" color in theory and practice,but its unique theoretical viewpoint has important theoretical and practical value.In particular,from the perspective of of Marxism' environmental philosophy,his theoretical views on the combination of Marxism and the contemporary western ecological movement and the one of Marxism and the current construction of ecological civilization in China have important reference value and inspiration.This also shows that the influence of Marxism's environmental philosophy is worldwide.
