Evaluation On Macluhan's Philosophical View On Technology

This thesis researched the media technology theory of Macluhan, a great master of the communication. In 1960s, Macluhan present the medium view, the view is unprecedented and emphasize the importance of medium technology and my society. With the rapid development of information communication, many theories of Macluhan turn into reality.Macluhan come into the theories of Innis. He studied the theories with the relation of medium technology and human civilization, and put forward the definition of medium technology in a profound way. The article, firstly, sum up his famous theories: the globe village; cool medium and hot medium; the medium is the message; the medium is the range of body. Secondly, there are many completely different attitudes towards his theories in academe because of the action---only exploration, no explanations. The author set forth the domestic and overseas evaluations on these theories briefly. Thirdly, Macluhan researched the medium technology from many aspects, such as history, society and culture on the macroscopical way. And many of his conclusion are made sure nowadays. With the extensive use of the Internet, a modern medium, medium technology produced the tremendous influence on a lot of manners: apperception, living and thinking. In the end, by means of the technology philosophy the author put forward that the Macluhan's medium technology include the viewpoint: the productivity is the last determinative force of the society development. Moreover, the medium technology is discussed from the aspects of the plutonomy and the impetus of the society economy.Nowadays, the new medium technology, be delegated by Internet, is challenging the old one. It is necessary to research the medium technology again. Therefore, the thesis is on realistic and innovative significance.
