At present,a correct understanding and accurate characterization all of reservoir important for in oil and gas exploration and development. It is important to identify channels geologic features in seismic data, due to channel sands serving as excellent reservoirs for oil and gas. However,in some situations they can be difficult to detect due to structural complexity or other factors. The steerable pyramid is a transform in which an image is decomposed in different scales and orientation. The seismic signals are decomposed into different scales and into different directions.Features can then be characterized according to dimensionality and direction using the partitioned image.Geological information can be enhanced by reconstruction the seismic signals.Such as fault, channels etc. This approach provides a tool for seismic facies, strcuture and reservoir architecture analysis. In this work,we studied the basic thoery and method of the steerable pyramid decomposition. We used the seismic slices as inputs. Then we analyzed the geological imformation in different scales and directions after decomposition of steeerable pyramid such as the characters and strikes of Channels and faults. Then we adopted a function to enhance the geologic characteristics of the corresponding geologic body. This is not only the edge detection of the geological body, but also enhance the geologic body. This method is applied to field data for validation.
