Shandong coastal areas are economically developed and densely populated. However, most seawalls' defensive capability is the 50-year storm, and they have no resistance to the 100-year storm surge.Historically, storm surges have occurred frequently.Once the 100-year storm surge occurs,it will bring huge economic losses. Therefore, the evaluation of the economic vulnerability of the coastal areas of Shandong Province will help to take measures for disaster reduction and prevention. This paper taked the coastal areas of Shandong Province as the research area, with the county, city and district as the basic units, selected the comprehensive indicator GDP and five sub-indicators of cultivated land, industry, fishery, roads and population, and used Dem,remote sensing data and GIS.Evaluated the economic vulnerability of the coastal areas of Shandong Province under the influence of the100-year storm surge. The study predicted the tidal line and its inundation range of the 100-year storm surge,by obtaining the tide level of the 100-year storm surge in the research area;taking the county-level administrative unit as the basic unit, the vulnerability index of each indicator affected of the 100-year storm surge was analyzed, including GDP vulnerability index, cultivated land vulnerability index, industrial vulnerability index, fisheries vulnerability index, road vulnerability index, and vulnerability Index of population.According to the seven-level classification method, the vulnerability level and geographical distribution of each indicator were obtained. The areas with high GDP vulnerability were mainly distributed in Laizhou Bay and Jiaozhou Bay;the areas with high cultivated land vulnerability were mainly distributed in Laizhou Bay;the areas with high industrial vulnerability were mainly distributed in Laizhou Bay and Jiaozhou Bay;The areas with high fishery vulnerability were mainly distributed in the southeast coastal part of the east side of Jiaozhou Bay,the Yellow River Deltaand Laizhou Bay;the areas with high road vulnerability were mainly distributed in Bohai Bay,Laizhou Bay and Jiaozhou Bay;the areas with high population vulnerability were mainly distributed in the Yellow River Delta.Areas with high comprehensive economic vulnerability are mainly distributed in Bohai Bay,Yellow River Delta,Laizhou Bay and Jiaozhou Bay areas had higher levels of vulnerability.
