Terminology Management In Scientific Translation

Terminology management refers to the activities of systematically collecting,describing,processing,recording,storing,presenting and querying professional vocabulary in specific fields,which is one of the key technologies of Computer Aided Translation.Modern terminology management runs through the whole process of translation projects with different manifestations and applications in different stages.Based on the translation practice of a forest ecological text Major perturbations in the Earth's forest ecosystems.Possible implications for global warming.On the basis of analyzing the background and language features of the original work,this report gives an overview of the terminology,terminology database and terminology management,discusses how to use computer-aided translation technology and tools to create,apply terminology database and terminology management in the translation of forestry scientific texts,and the importance and significance of terminology management are analyzed.According to data statistics,the author finds that there are many professional terms and fixed expressions in the original text,whose translation efficiency and quality will be hindered if we adopt the traditional translation methods.Based on the reflection of this problem,the author makes full use of computer-assisted translation methods in the translation process.Through a series of perfect terminology management processes,including the extraction,collation and identification of terms before translation,the recognition and addition of terms during translation,and the updates and maintenance of terms after translation,the strong strength of terminology management is demonstrated through case analysis.It is found in this paper that:Good terminology management and selection of appropriate cloud CAT tools can not only prevent data loss,reduce unnecessary duplication of work and improve translation efficiency,but also be a key contributor to the quality and consistency of the translation.Meanwhile,it can convert terminology resources into language assets to realize resource sharing for future translation practice.This paper is taken to enhance the terminology awareness of other translators,make them familiar with the terminology management process,and provide useful reference and inspiration for future translation work.
