In addition to wavelength or frequency(color),amplitude(intensity),and phase information,polarization is another basic physical characteristic of light and can also be used as a basic carrier for the effective transmission of light wave information.Owing to the atmosphere is a complex system,therefore,it is of great significance to explore the transmission characteristics of polarizations in the atmosphere for the application of atmospheric navigation,satellite remote sensing,military reconnaissance and other fields.Here,we constructed the Monte Carlo simulation system and the practical experimental platform to investigate the transmission characteristics of different polarization informations for the complex cloudy and foggy dispersion systems,which provided theoretical support for realizing the efficient transmission of real atmospheric link information and reducing the influence of complex dispersion system.And the main research contents can be concluded as follows:(1)Broad-band transmission characteristics of polarizations in the foggy environments have been investigated.Based on Monte Carlo method,the dynamical evolution of polarized lights(circularly and linearly polarized)in a foggy environment is simulated for different types of dispersion systems.In order to match with the real environment,we constructed the atmospheric foggy database and theoretically simulated the transmission characteristics of polarization information for linearly and circularly polarized lights in monodisperse and polydisperse systems with a certain distribution characteristics.And we compared and analyzed the polarization-maintenance ability of linearly and circularly polarized light and the polarization-response characteristics under different wavelengths.Compared with linear polarization,circular polarization has better polarization-maintenance ability,and circular polarization provides better selectivity in making up for the shading effect and improving the transmission ability.(2)The transmission characteristics of polarization information in cloudy media have been investigated.For the cloudy system,the layered Monte Carlo model algorithm was modified to more effectively realize the simulation transmission of polarization information.In the simulations,the parameters of water cloud and ice cloud environments were constructed and the transmission characteristics of circular and linear polarization in mid-infrared band were studied in details.Compared with that of linear polarization,the penetrating ability of the circular polarization is better,and the degree of polarization fluctuates less with the changes of wavelength.(3)The polarization-maintenance ability of circularly and linearly polarized light in real water mist environment have been investigated.Focusing on the subject of the penetrating characteristics of polarized lights in complex dispersive systems,we desinged and built a set of experimental equipment to observe and analyze the penetrating characteristics of linearly and circularly polarized light in water mist dispersion system(?=633nm).In the experiment,three kinds of water mist environments(mist,medium fog and fog)were constructed to compare the penetrating ability of linearly and circularly polarized lights.Compared with linearly polarized light,circularly polarized light has better polarization-maintenance ability.Moreover,with increasing optical thickness value in the foggy system,the advantage of circularly polarized light is more prominent,indicating that circularly polarized light has a good ability to penetrate fog.
