At a time when the development and application of digital technology is constantly evolving,project management plays an increasingly important role in complexity management.Therefore,project managers,who are the core figures of project management,are facing increasing challenges.In 2013,the Project Management Institute(PMI)released the PMI Talent Triangle,pointing out that the PMI Talent Triangle is an ideal skill system that combines professional skills,leadership,and strategic and business management capabilities.Three aspects of ability help employees maintain market competitiveness in terms of talent.In order to maintain competitiveness in the market,project managers must also have the above three capabilities.Considering that there have been many studies on professional skills and leadership in the past,the author studies the"business management"skills.It aims to improve the market competitiveness of project managers by analyzing business management skills,constructing a project manager's business management competency model,and providing theoretical guidance for project managers to develop business management skills.The author consulted relevant materials and conducted some research on the business management competency that the project manager should have.First,through literature research,it is concluded that the business management skills that the project manager should have include business model,market situation analysis,industry knowledge and standards,legal bottom line,operational department(such as finance,marketing department),customer relationship and satisfaction.Competitive analysis,business sensitivity,benefit management and implementation of a total of nine characteristic variables.Second,the author summarizes the nine characteristic variables and forms three characteristic indicators:environmental cognitive ability,relationship coordination ability and value realization ability.Third,build a project manager's business management competency model.Fourth,according to the constructed model,the questionnaire is designed and distributed to those who have experience in the project.Fifth,the data analysis of the effective questionnaire is carried out to verify the proposed project manager's business management competency model.The author modifies the original model based on the results of the data analysis,and proposes a revised empirical model,which includes four competencies with a total of nine characteristic variables.The four competencies are micro-environmental cognition,macro-environmental cognition,and relationship-coordination ability.,value realization ability,nine characteristic variables in addition to"industry knowledge and standard cracking into'industry knowledge'and'industry standard,two variables","commercial sensitivity variables do not appear in the empirical analysis"and the original model Roughly the same.The author proposes a modified ideal model after adding the"commercial sensitivity"characteristic variable.In addition,the author ranks the four competency indicators according to their importance as follows:relationship coordination ability,micro-environmental awareness,value realization ability,and macro-environmental awareness.The project management association and other industry organizations,project managers and their companies related to project management can further develop the project manager's business management competency with reference to the research results of this research.
