There is a large area of saline-alkali soil in the Yellow River irrigation area of Ningxia.The soil salinity is high in this area and the region is ecologically fragile.The land is often abandoned because of serious salt accumulation.Effective improvement of local saline-alkali soils is important for promoting agroforestry production and improving the ecological environment.This paper takes saline-alkali soil in the Qingtongxia irrigation area of Ningxia as the research object.We set up three kinds of improved model to comprehensive improving Ningxia saline-alkali land:1)The improved model of the different dosage of amendments combined with afforestation,irrigation and other supporting measures.2)The improved model of the different patterns of trees and shrubs mixed combined with irrigation,applying amendments and other supporting measures.3)The improved model of the different spacing blind ditch combined with afforestation,irrigation,applying amendments and other supporting measures.Field experiments were conducted to systematically study the effects of different improved models on soil physical and chemical properties,plant growth and plant functional traits.Finally,this paper put forward an effective management model to improving Ningxia saline-alkali land.The main results were as follows:1)Optimum dosage of mixed amendments was determined.It was desulfurization gypsum(2.5 kg/m2)+furfural residue(1.5 kg/m2)+cattle manure(3 kg/m2).The best matching tree species was weeping willow(Salix babylonica).2)Considering the setup cost and improvement effect of blind ditch,9 m blind ditch spacing was the best choice to improving saline-alkali land.3)The best combination of tree species was selected:Weeping willow and Amorpha fruticosa.4)Finally,an effective management model to improving Ningxia saline-alkali land was proposed.The land preparation needs to set the blind ditch which spacing was 9 m.Using amendments,the application amount of ground part and pit were desulfurization gypsum(2.5 kg/m2)+furfural residue(1.5 kg/m2)+cattle manure(3 kg/m2).The Weeping willow and Amorpha fruticosa were selected to afforestation.We could set 15 cm straw cushion in the bottom of hole if the soil texture is poor when planting trees.We must irrigation once a month and using rotary cultivator to rotary tillage land for destroy surface soil consolidation.Attention should be paid to the drainage of the planting area.
