The comprehensive assessment of sea suitability for aquaculture was an important research content,component of coastal zone planning,management and marine spatial planning research.It was a scientific research on the rational use of sea space resources and coordination of the relationship between the use of resource,economic and social development.It was of great significance to realize the optimal allocation of marine resources,promoting the healthy and rapid development of the marine economy.Changhai county is located in the north of the Yellow Sea on the eastern side of the Liaodong Peninsula.It was an important base of aquaculture in China.The main industry was fishery,which produced a wealth of rare seafood,supplemented by tourism and shipbuilding.The paper took Changhai County as object of research,and built a suitability evaluation index system for aquaculture.Based on the analysis of the sea environment by GIS technology,this paper made a comprehensive evaluation of the suitability of aquaculture sea in Changhai sea area.The research conclusions mainly included:(1)The article constructed a seawater suitability evaluation index system for aquaculture.The indicator system consisted of three levels.The index was determined based on natural factors and social factors which included 11 indicators,the concentration of chlorophyll a,comprehensive index of water quality pollution and eutrophication.(2)GIS-based analysis of environment of Changhai sea area.The water quality in the Changhai water was good overall,and the concentration of chlorophyll showed that the islands was larger than the open seas;the concentrations of COD,DIN,and DIP exceeded the first seawater quality,and all the other indicators met the requirements for water quality;the distribution of the concentration of heavy metal showed that the islands was higher than that in open seas.However,it met the requirements of first type of water quality,and the copper concentration of some sea areas met the requirements of second-grade water quality.(3)The comprehensive appraisal of sea suitability for aquaculture showed that the suitable(medium,high,and high-appropriate grade)sea area for scallop farming was 5266.687km~2,accounting for 48.82%of the total sea area of Changhai county,mainly distributed between the sea of Shicheng Island and Wumang Island,the southern part of Changshan Island and Zhangzi Island,and the sea area between Wumang Island and Haiyang Island;suitable(medium,high,and high-grade)area of the culture of deep-sea cage is 7045.81km~2,accounting for 65.31%of the total sea area of Changhai county.It was suitable for deep-sea cage breeding except for parts of the Changhai Sea in the southern,eastern and northern.
