Tailings pond is a special place to store metal or non-metallic tailings.As a kind of artificial dam with high potential energy,tailings pond is a major hazard source of mine engineering.Lots of tailings pond is built beside the mountain in China,and the lower reaches of the tailings pond is residential areas,farmland,rivers and important buildings.Once the tailings pond breaks,people's life and property security will be seriously threatened,and the environment will have disastrous consequences,too.Therefore,it is very important to study debris flow disaster of tailings pond.The impact,depth and velocity is the damage characteristics of debris flow.A series of laws of them can provide important reference for disaster prevention and reduction by doing test and simulation.In this paper,the model is based on a tailing pond.By using the method of model test and numerical simulation,the debris flow test of tailings pond break in different working conditions was carried out.The impact,depth and velocity of debris flow were studied in these conditions.By comparing the results of different working conditions,the changing rules of impact,depth and velocity is obtained.The results are as follows.(1)Based on the theory of water and sand similarity,the 3d model of tailings pond break was designed and produced,and the model sand was selected according to the similarity theory.(2)In the 3d test platform,the dam with different height and position is set in order to measure the impact of the dam with different height and position,and the influence of the height and position of the dam on the impact is obtained through comparison and analysis.(3)In the 3d test platform,the dam with different height and position is set in order to measure the flood depth of the dam with different height and position,and the influence of the height and position of the dam on the flood depth is obtained through comparison and analysis.(4)Based on the measured data,a 3d mathematical model of tailings pond break was established,and the mathematical model is verified by experimental data.The velocity distribution of debris flow is studied by the verified model,and the influence of the height of the dam on the flow velocity is obtained.
