Geological specimens play an important role in geological relevant professions or industries,it is the most direct,the most concrete material carrier or medium for people to study material composition,internal structure and external features of the crustal rocks,etc.Therefore,this paper focuses on how to effectively identify and manage the data of geological samples and knowledge related to them.Based on the study of geological specimens at home and abroad and its current situation of the development of virtual learning platform,analyzes the subject system and knowledge representation related to geological specimens,and build the knowledge ontology of geological samples based on ontology,according to the characteristics of the geological specimen resources,it extends the application domain that the geological specimens in 3d modeling field and the map field,and then with the method of software engineering,it was designed and implemented the geological specimens virtual learning platform based on B/S model.The system has realized four function modules that are the specimen information of geology,knowledge map of geological specimens,statistical analysis and system management.It provides efficient,fast,diverse learning styles for study of geological specimens,strengthen the cultivation of the professional knowledge and skills.The main research contents of this paper include:(1)Study on the knowledge map of geological specimens.Analysis the related disciplines of geological specimens,sums up the discipline system of geological specimens and determine knowledge areas,according to the existing knowledge representation,it uses the knowledge representation based on ontology,according to the seven steps of building methods,surrounding base concepts which are rocks,minerals,substances,geological processes,geological events,geological time,area,representative people,groups,units,extract 328 key concepts,puts forward to the eight basic relations between concepts,defines the attributes of the main concepts,build out the knowledge ontology of the geological specimen.(2)The application of geological specimen resources.It is mainly discussed from two aspects: one is 3d modeling's principle,method,Data Format and implementation technology,two is maps' implementation technology.(3)Develop a virtual learning platform for geological samples and carry out detailed system design and implementation.From the user,function,data,performance and other system requirements analysis,adopts B/S three-layer architecture of system structure,divisions of function modules of the system,and designs of each function module in detail,then designs the system structure of the database and table,in view of the different types of geological specimens,it designed public property sheet and character data tables of each category.Finally,it studies the realization process of the key technologies such as knowledge mapping,3d modeling and map application.(4)Test the system from two aspects which are function and performance,including geological specimens' management and retrieval,3d visualization,map location and distribution,t geological specimens' knowledge management and retrieval function test,performance test of 3d model loading efficiency etc.The construction of geological specimen virtual learning platform,which is multi-angled and multi-faceted display surrounding the two core points that the identification of geological specimens and geologic specimens,providing a convenient and comprehensive learning platform for geology-related practitioners to study geological specimens.
