Study On Universal Disaster Relief Stretcher Modular Design

Natural disasters and accidents,such as earthquakes,tsunamis,tornados,floods,traffic accidents and fires are happening at all times in China and worldwide.The 1976 Tangshan earthquake in Hebei,China,took hundreds of thousands of people's lives,to make it even worse,slow rescue and outdated rescue tools caused even more serious secondary damage;the tsunami in the wake of a violent Indonesia earthquake in 2016 caused serious natural disasters;in May 12,2008,a violent earthquake suddenly hit Wenchuan,China,taking away tens of thousands of lives,with hundreds of thousands of people missing,numerous people lost their homes.In these natural disasters and accidents,people would inevitably get hurt,and the injured are also in urgent need of emergency rescue tools,this is when the design of disaster relief stretcher shows its particular importance,a universal,portable stretcher with multiple functions makes a good case for its existence,at the same time,such a stretcher also has very high demand for its material.As a relatively new concept,universal design can be traced back to 1980s.First proposed by American architect Ron Mace et al,and it was introduced into China mainly through industrial design.This design concept has been increasingly recognized and valued in the design community.With complex disaster relief circumstances in mind,the author has analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of existing disaster relief products through data gathering,documents checking,research and comparison of the products.The author tries to study and discuss the relation between universal design,basic principles and multi-function combination design under special circumstances.Meanwhile,on the basis of functional design,the stretcher designed by the author is also people-oriented,which adds emotional attachment to the design,makes people subconsciously desire for the new products.Combined with actual requirements of the project,the combination design of the universal stretcher is mainly achieved by combining a variety of different use patterns,it also takes portability,time and labor saving,pain relief into account,it is ergonomic,efficient,and environmentally-friendly.From the perspective of universal combination design,the author has necessarily analyzed and discussed the methods and contents of designing stretcher,and proposed a valuable design approach and references.
