With the rapid development of 3D ComputerTechnology and extensive application in many fields,applying this technology in the field of simulating geological phenomena and geological evolution in geology has gradually become one of the leading subjects.Based on the characteristics of dinosaur tracks,this papertries to apply the Maya 3D Animation Technology for 3D visualized analysis on dinosaur track makers,simulating the posture and velocity of dinosaur movement,exploring the 3D visualized technology in paleontological study.Based on the characteristics and distribution of dinosaur footprints in Yanqing Global Geopark,this paper selects two dinosaur trackways as major study objectives.At first,the dinosaur body lengths,hip heights and movement of velocity are calculated.Then,the visualized digital models and textures of dinosaurs are set up by using the Polygons module in Maya Software,and using the Surfaces Module to make smooth objects,such as dinosaur teeth,eyes,tongue,and etc.,and adopting the Dynamics module to simulate the dinosaur movement,applying the Rendering module to reconstruct the background situation,and finally,using the Animation module to produce dinosaur skeletons,binding,skin bind and set key frames.The result is produced a 3D movie,simulating the progress of a movement of a sauropod dinosaur and a theropod dinosaur in a paleoenvironmental condition.All this is to combine Maya 3D Animation Technology and geological phenomena for promoting the development of Geo-animation.This paper,based on the real dinosaur footprints,digitally reconstructs and simulates the posture and velocity of dinosaur track makers by applying the 3D animation technology,it explores a new study field in paleontology,and is of positive significance in science popularization in geopark construction.
