Against the background of new requirements of development of the times and the economic reform which the government strongly promotes,state-owned enterprises actively implement the supply-side structural reform. The effects the reform brings about lighten burden of state-owned enterprises to some extent, but simultaneously, the reform cause a series of problems, especially the interruption of the internal employment distribution policy of the enterprises, that is,the stagnation of the employment distribution of their children of state-owned employees. The social problems caused by the interruption of the policy have been reserving extensive attention. In related studies of employment problem of their children of state-owned employees, most scholars think that the reasons for the employment dilemma are sudden policy changes, the constraint of thoughts of unit system and the lack of manpower resource, but they ignore the persistence and longevity of state-owned enterprise reforms. In addition, they mostly place emphasis on theories analysis rather than data support which are lack of persuasion. From the perspective of sociology, this thesis takes the third-generation coal miner as the research object, applying questionnaire method, structural interview and participant observation and so on to do researches, which attempts to answer the question of “the main reasons for employment difficulties and its influence brought by such reasons under the background of supply-side structural reform”.There are three dimensions to analyze the reasons for employment difficulties, including “sudden policy changes”,“thoughts of unit system”and “manpower resource”.By analyzing the influencing factors from the three aspects of “the family's socioeconomic status”,“the family's social relation net” and “individual social relation net”,the thesis can be concluded as follows:Firstly, the supply-side structural reform is not the fundamental cause making it difficult for the third-generation coal miners to find jobs. The third-generation coal miners with difficulties finding employment are affected by neither the influence of“sudden policy changes” and the constraint of “thoughts of unit system” nor the shortage of manpower resource, but the lack of social capital.Secondly,“social relations” become the main reasons for the third-generation coal miners to make up their mind to keep on working at the Mining Bureau of D city.Besides, the “steel bowl” brought by “thoughts of unit system” and “the parents' hope” also play an important role when the third-generation coal miners make decisions.Thirdly, the family's socioeconomic status, the family's social relation net and individual social relation net have a great influence on the third-generation coal miners' finding jobs.Fourthly, the third-generation coal miners make full use of social capital, which can help them find their jobs.Compared with the close relationship with parents and relatives, the relationships between friends which seem loose tend to play a more important part in the third-generation coal miners' employment. Therefore, the“offering information about jobs”,“helping introduce them to related departments”and “directly offering jobs” appear to be less important for the third-generation coal miners to own their jobs.
