At present, the Gini coefficient is the most widely used measurement indicator by Chinese scholars. All the data in this paper come from statistical yearbooks of 31 provinces in China.Considering that the data published by the Bureau of Statistics are all grouped data, the area of the part between the Lorentz curve and the diagonal is used as the calculation formula of the internal Gini coefficient.According to this principle, the rural and urban Gini coefficients of 31 provinces in China are calculated, and using the correction formula to calculate the Gini coefficient of the country and 31 provinces. Then, the Gini coefficient is decomposed into three parts:group, the interior of the group, and overlap. The result shows that the income gap among the provinces and the income gap in mixed items are the most important factors which affecting income gap in China.Questionnaire surveys are conducted to ascertain the perception of residents in the society, ranging from the eastern, central and western cities. In this paper, factor analysis and reliability analysis are used to remove invalid variables and define the perceptual factors. Then, the multivariate tests of significance and variance tests of independent factors are performed. Some of the factors are significantly different.Comparing with the Gini coefficient and analyzing differences in perceptions in regions with income gap, further, establishing regression equation, and determining the positive and negative relationships between income gap and perceptions. The results show that public service perception and personal perception are negatively related to income gap,the cause of cognition and the solution of cognition are positively related to income gap.
