The Impact Of Import Of Producer Services On Efficiency Of Manufacturing Industry Of China

As an important backbone of economic development of China,the development of manufacturing industry will directly affect the quality and speed of economic development of China.Since the reform and opening up,the manufacturing industry of China has developed rapidly.However,compared with developed countries,the output efficiency of the manufacturing industry of China has been relatively low and the development of it depends on the material input too much,such as labor and resources.How can make manufacturing industry gradually move from the “middle and low-end” of the industrial chain to “middle and high-end” and eventually to “the top” through enlightening output efficiency of the manufacturing industry is a topic,which is worth exploring.With the labor force costs going up,resources being consumed,and the environment being polluted excessively,the development of the manufacturing industry in our country can no longer rely on material inputs too much,and need more advanced inputs to improve the efficiency of manufacturing industry.It cannot be separated from the input of producer services.As a high-level production factor,producer services provide intermediate goods and intermediate services for the manufacturing industry.It can reduce the cost of manufacturing industry and improve the service level of the manufacturing industry.It is an important force for transforming new knowledge and new technologies into actual productive forces.And also it is the carrier that new R&D technology and patents invest in the manufacturing process,which runs through the production process and is the mainstay of the production chain.It plays a decisive role in raising the value chain of a country's manufacturing industry.Therefore,it is considered to be the key to improve the productivity of manufacturing industry.However,the development of producer services industry of China is still lagging behind other developed countries,the input rate of producer services in the manufacturing industry is still relatively low,and it is still unable to meet the demand for rapid development of the manufacturing industry.In order to be able to improve the productivity of manufacturing industry of China more rapidly and achieve the “Made in China 2025” goal,China need to import advanced producer services from abroad for the technological progress of the manufacturing industry of China.The purpose of this paper is to measure whether the import of producer services can improve the efficiency of manufacturing industry of China,analyze the impact of the path,and propose relevant countermeasures about how manufacturing industry of China integrate with producer services in the future to enlighten the efficiency of manufacturing industry of China.This paper mainly selects the import of producer services of China and the total industrial output value of the manufacturing industry from 2001 to 2016 as object of study.It uses the DEA-Malmquist index method,industry association analysis method,and input-output analysis method to analyze the relationship between producer services and the manufacturing industry and utilize quantitative analysis to perform OLS regression analysis on whether the import of producer services can promote the efficiency of manufacturing.Firstly,this paper analyze the background and significance of this study,and combing the literature research of scholars at home and abroad,review the literature on the relationship between producer services trade and manufacturing industry.Secondly,this paper defines producer services and the trade of producer services and expounds the theoretical basis of producer service trade and manufacturing.Thirdly,this paper introduces the development situation of producer services,producer services trade,and manufacturing industry from 2001 and analyze the relationship between producer services and manufacturing industry of China using analysis of industrial association and input-output,and analyze the productivity of manufacturing industry of China using the DEA-Malmquist index method.Fourthly,this paper analyzes how the import of producer services affects manufacturing productivity from five aspects including the effects of technology spillovers,accumulation of human capital,trade supplement,trade competition,and improvement of industrial value chains.Fifthly,this paper mainly use the empirical analysis which,firstly,establishes the econometric model,secondly,passes the test of stability,regress,and finally draws conclusions that the import of producer services can improve the efficiency of manufacturing industry of China,and the effect of cross-border import is greater than foreign direct investment.By importing producer services as an intermediate input and intermediate product into the production of manufacturing industry,the efficiency increase through cross-border importing for the enterprises and manufacturers of China is 0.39%equally,and through FDI is 0.28% equally.At last,based on the current development situation of producer services and manufacturing industry of China and the conclusions drawn,relevant policy recommendations are proposed.China must expand the import of producer services,attach importance to technical cooperation with developed countries,optimize the import structure of productive services,raise the level of human capital,and improve the level of marketization of manufacturing and service industries,and take full advantage of the spillover effect of service outsourcing.
