Chengdu is the most dynamic economic city in the West China,and has the highest GDP growth which is leads the average level in the whole country.As a result of high speed GDP growth,more and more foreign enterprise invests in Sichuan.However,in their daily team management of these foreign enterprise,it exists cultural differences which is more reflect on the team management methods,because of the different culture backgrounds,many management board comes from overseas while the employee are local,they have different understanding of management.This difference reflects that cultural differences have an influence on cross-cultural team management.If we solve these issues,it will have great impact on the team efficiency and team work.This thesis takes dimension of cultural differences as breakthrough point,also will take Maersk Line,the first carrier in shipping industry as object of study,and focus on their management theory and method in team management in Chengdu.As well as to study how foreign enterprise can do effective cross-cultural team management with consider local variation.More importantly,this thesis is aiming to discuss and propose the foreign enterprise team management theory and method with Chinese characteristics.This thesis is firstly to summarize the relative theory of team management,cultural differences,and cross-cultural team.And then based on those theories,it proposed the theoretical basis of this thesis,which is,the cultural differences is the biggest issue which is existed in Cross-Cultural team management.Secondly,this next part of this thesis is to analyze the current situation of Maersk team management in Chengdu,in which not only introduce the advantage and disadvantage of Maersk team management,but also to analyze,compare with and elaborate how the cultural differences brings impact to Maersk team management in Chengdu which based on the theory of dimension of cultural differences.By this way,it can point out the issue exists in Maersk daily team management.Last but not least,based on the aspect of achieve the cultural integration,consider the Sichuan local cultural background(Mainly focus on the employee affected by their own culture),to bring forward the effective cross-cultural team management strategy's of Maersk in Chengdu.To address that for cross-cultural team management,must consider the local variation,to get well known of cultural differences and to achieve cultural integration.Only by this way,it can improve the team engagement and team spirit and efficiency.
