Under Global Value Chain,The total exports do not represent the true trade gains.There is a mismatch between the scale of international trade and the true trade gains.The research of true trade gains is a frontier problem in the field of international trade.China,Japan and South Korea,which are all in a relatively independent production system,participate in different production links in the value chain.As a result,there is a certain gap between trade gains of the three countries.There are differences in the international competitiveness of different industries,too.Firstly,based on the integrated results of previous studies,this paper offers an overview on the current situation of China,Japan and South Korea to participate in the global value chain from three aspects--the degree of participation,the model of participation and industry structure.Secondly,this paper calculates domestic value added of China,Japan and South Korea by using world input-output tables in the world inputoutput database.By using the calculated results,this paper makes a comparative study of trade gains and international competitiveness between the three countries.The results indicate that trade gains of China,Japan and South Korea increase steadily during the participation in global value chain division,but there is aobvious gap between the three countries.China is developing rapidly and moving closer Japan and South Korea.In the four categories of industries,the manufacturing industry in the three countries has a obvious international competitiveness.China is more competitive in labor-intensive manufacturing industry,while Japan and South Korea have strong competitiveness in the capital intensive manufacturing industry and knowledge intensive manufacturing industry.As a result,manufacturing industry of the three countries both exists complementarity and competitiveness.In China,Different sectors of manufacturing industry have different characteristics.The competitiveness of Capital intensive manufacturing and knowledge intensive manufacturing are improving gradually in China.Finally,according to the research conclusion,some policies and suggestions are proposed to increase the trade gains and improve the international competitiveness from three different aspects,which including focusing on the intermediate link of the value chain,expanding upstream and downstream of the value chain and strengthening international cooperation.Meanwhile,aiming at the transition and upgrade of different types manufacturing industry in China,this paper also analyze the strategies which according to the further research of Chinese manufacturing industry.
