Green environmental sustainability is the prerequisite for the prosperity of national economy of China.China became the biggest energy-consuming country in the world in 2010 and the fact has accelerated the process of reform of energy.It has become an inevitable trend to study energy economics from the perspective of time and space.The current study shows that industry agglomeration has a positive effect on production and economic efficiency.On this basis,it is of great significance to research what role did it play in the field of energy to improve efficiency.This paper,using the theoretical analysis and empirical testing,studies how energy efficiency is affected by the level of industry agglomeration in manufacturing sector in China.In order to achieve the goal of improving energy efficiency,it also makes some policy recommendations on an industry agglomeration point of view.First of all,on the basis of the existing research on energy efficiency and industry agglomeration,this paper elucidates the influence mechanism of various factors,especially the impact of industrial agglomeration on energy efficiency.Secondly,this paper calculates the agglomeration degree of manufacturing industry of China through Herfindahl index,measures the energy efficiency through DEA method.This paper constructs the Tobit model and takes the industry agglomeration degree as the core explanatory variable and four factors,sci-tech progress and so on,as control variables.It carries out a regression analysis,studies the impact of energy efficiency on the manufacturing sector of 20 manufacturing industries from 2000 to 2014,and joins the square of industrial agglomeration degree to study the nonlinear effects of industrial agglomeration on energy efficiency.Finally,on the basis of theoretical analysis and empirical research,by discussing the relationship between manufacturing industry agglomeration of China and energy efficiency,this paper puts forward to some policy recommendation.The results show that: for the manufacturing sector and Non-technology intensive manufacturing,energy efficiency is affected by industry agglomeration and is inverted U type;but for the technology intensive manufacturing,energy efficiency is affected by industry agglomeration and is U type.The progress of sci-tech and the degree of opening have positive influence on energy efficiency.Price and consumption structure of energy have a restraining effect on energy efficiency.Accordingly,this paper puts forward to some policy recommendation: such as improve the quality of manufacturing agglomeration,take advantage of scientific and technological means to promote energy efficiency,improve the energy market and so on.
