| Due to the increasing technical complexity,uncertainty of market and integration of innovative resources under the background of open innovation,micro,small and medium sized enterprises realize that the innovation behavior is no longer the result of decision making by a single innovation entity.They interact with suppliers,customers,universities,research institutions,government and intermediary organizations by boundary-spanning searching,with digesting and absorbing of complementary knowledge,their synergistic innovative capability is improved by transforming and sharing innovative achievements.But in previous study,boundary-spanning search focused either on technological knowledge or market knowledge which lack of a comprehensive and systematic study,and it mainly studies the effects on innovation performance,organizational creativity,and technological distinctive competencies,less on the synergistic innovative capability.Therefore,based on the organization search theory,synergistic innovative theory and open innovation theory,this paper add the key factor of absorptive capacity into the research framework of the impact of boundary-spanning search on synergistic innovative capability,it studies the mechanism both of boundary-spanning search of technological knowledge and market knowledge,and distinguishes the different roles of them.Firstly,we use an empirical analysis to verify the theoretical hypothesis and to reveal the mechanism of boundary-spanning search for synergistic innovative capability.Secondly,we employ a longitudinal case study to analyze the improvement mechanism of synergistic innovative capability.The results show that:(1)The boundary-spanning search of technological knowledge has a significant positive impact on the synergistic innovative capability.(2)The boundary-spanning search of market knowledge has a positive effect on the synergistic innovative capability.(3)Absorptive capacity positively moderate the above relationship. |
