In 2008,China and New Zealand signed Free Trade Agreement(in short ‘FTA')in Beijing,which was the first FTA signed between China and the western developed countries.It was also the first FTA fully covered the fields of goods,services and investment.At present,the world economy is undergoing profound and complex changes,the overall trend of globalization remains the same,but showing a series of new trends,including the prevalence of trade protectionism,the rising of deglobalization,the connotation of globalization of trade is constantly enriched,the service industry to lead the global economic development,regional economy integration and globalization in parallel,the international system of diversification.TPP and RCEP are integration of FTAs in the Asia-Pacific region,the growing trade freedom and emerging trade topics promote the standards and quality of global FTA,which increase the pressure of upgrade to the early signed China-New Zealand FTA.In addition,the China-Australia FTA,which came into effect in 2015,is the first FTA achieved by China with the major developed economies with large economic aggregates,and one of the highest standard signed FTAs between China and other countries that achieved highest level of trade liberalization.The signing of the China-Australia FTA means that New Zealand will face intense competitive pressure in the field of economic and trade exchanges with China,due to its similar economic structure with Australia,and the China-New Zealand FTA upgrade is urgent.The new era of global economic development has brought new challenges to China-New Zealand FTA,but also new opportunities to FTA upgrade.This paper aims to put the China-New Zealand FTA upgrade in the background of the new era of globalization,analyze the interest of current China-New Zealand FTA from the perspective of international politics and economy,and make China-New Zealand FTA upgrade policy suggestions by comparing with TPP,RCEP and China-Australia FTA.
