Research On Influencing Factors Of Scrapped Car Recycling Ratio And Its Countermeasures

China automobile industry has been growing dramatically since 2000.The number of scrapped automobiles is also steadily growing.We are approaching a peak year for scrapping automobiles around 2015.Currently,we are still in an early stage of recycling scrapped automobiles.Majority of the scrapped cars are beyond government control or regulation.These vehicles are recycled and/or dismantled illegally,or even still being used for transport.All these have generated serious social issues.To improve our recycling systems for scrapped automobiles,increase recycling rate,and encourage recycled utilization of resource from scrapped cars,are of great significance for our country to take the road of sustainable development.This paper summarized an overview of development in recycling scrapped automobiles,statistically analyzed the current status of recycling,and has identified that the extremely low recycling rate is a key issue for recycling scrapped cars in China.Through consulting literatures and interviewing researchers in automobile recycling field,this paper studied the factors for recycling rate and establishes the survey questionnaires.Also,the investigation of current recycling status is executed through social network sites like email,QQ and Wechat,face to face and phone interviews.These primary studies mainly focused on scrapped automobile administrative units and staff from different departments.SPSS is utilized to analyze the survey data.From the main findings of weakness in recycling activities and its main drivers identified in the survey analysis,the paper recommended the countermeasure of low recycling rate with comprehensive analysis and studies.This paper systematically applied various countermeasures,considering the reality in recycling scrapped automobiles,to research and optimize recycling mechanism in China.That is guided by manufacturer responsibility extension policy,with recycling operation owned by third parties.The scrapped automobile administrative centre is a centralized national management organization.It has a general information platform for technology support,utilizing reverse-logistics theory to recycle the vehicles.Also,this paper constructed a model of close-loop supply chain system comprised of a third party recycling company,an automobile product manufacturer,and a recycling producer.It studied the added values of scrapped automobile economy.It concluded that a third party owned recycling system based on EPR would increase recycling rate,improve scrapped vehicle resource utilization by recycling,and eventually support our recycling of scrapped automobiles in China.This research considered the real challenges in recycling scrapped cars to propose targeted countermeasure and actions for China.It provided actionable guidance and values to improve scrapped automobile recycling activities in China.
