The studies on the spillover effect of transport infrastructure are more focused on the perspective of economic growth, but there are significant differences in the results of measurement due to differences in measurement methods, index selection and time dimension. Therefore,it is a new research direction to examine the spillover effect of transport infrastructure based on microcosmic perspective. On the one hand, the spillover effect of the transport infrastructure based on the microscosmic perspective can effectively avoid the effect of regional differences on the overall results. On the other hand, based on the specific region, examining the spillover effect of the transport infrastructure can produce more targeted results.Based on the above two considerations, this paper selects the manufacturing industry from the industry level and selects the Pan-Pearl River Delta region from the regional level to study the spillover effect of the transport infrastructure. On the theoretical side, this paper analyzes the transport infrastructure’s impact mechanism on manufacturing industry from the aspects of transport infrastructure and manufacturing industry inventory cost、manufacturing industry division and specialization、manufacturing industry spatial agglomeration. On the empirical side, this paper, based on the Cobb-Douglas production function, builds the basic model of the spillover effect of the transport infrastructure, setting economic variable weight matrix and the binary adjacency matrix to calculate Moran Index, then verifies the spatial correlation of the Pan-Pearl River Delta manufacturing industry. At the same time, the paper contrasts the non-spatial econometrics model with the spatial econometrics model.and further explores the spillover effect of the transport infrastructure on three different types of manufacturing industry.Based on the above research contents, the main research results are as follows:1.The Moran index that based on the binary adjacency weight matrix and the economic variable weight matrix shows that there is a significant spatial positive correlation between the manufacturing industry in the Pan-Pearl River Delta. The regression results of the spatial autoregression model based on the economic variable weight matrix show that the spatial correlation coefficient of the manufacturing industry is 0.33,which indicates that the development of the manufacturing industry in adjacent areas has a significant effect on the local manufacturing industry.2.The Pan-Pearl River Delta transport infrastructure has a significant positive spillover effect on manufacturing industry,The spillover effects of transport infrastructure on manufacturing industry accounts for 34% of total effect, and this spillover effect is more realized through economic connection, the spillover effect of the railway is greater than the road. For the regression results of spatial econometrics model of three kinds of manufacturing industry, the spillover effects of transport infrastructure on labor-intensive manufacturing industry is more realized through adjacent geographical location, the spillover effects of transport infrastructure on capital-intensive and technology-intensive manufacturing industry is more realized through economic connection.3.Compared with the regression results of labor-intensive,capital-intensive and technology-intensive manufacturing industry,it is found that the spillover effect of the railway on the capital-intensive manufacturing industry is greater than that of the labor and technologyintensive manufacturing industry. The reason for the difference may be the industrial nature and the dependence on the railway.Besides,The spillover effect of transport infrastructure on technology-intensive manufacturing is negative. Finally, based on the conclusions, this paper points out the provinces in the transport infrastructure construction should consider the dependency of manufacturing industry on the transport infrastructure and increase investment in transport infrastructure, strengthen the construction of inter-provincial highway network, speed up the construction of the railway network in the eastern, central and western regions of the Pan-Pearl River Delta, realize the integration and interconnection of the transpor network in the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region. The article points out the shortcomings of the paper and direction of efforts in the future.
