Population aging is a common trend of population development in human society,a large number of young people migrate from rural areas to towns, which makes the problem of rural aging more severe.Agriculture is the foundation of the national economy,is independent of the human will, and is a kind of objective economic law, which has a universal effect on all social forms. As rural areas in China are vast and has a large population, the role of agriculture in the development of China’s national economy is particularly prominent. In the context of the rural population aging, the rapid development of industrialization and urbanization attracts a large number of rural youth labor migrating to the towns, which makes the elderly population become the protagonist of agricultural production. To explore the impact of the rural population aging on the agricultural economy has the strategic significance to the process of agricultural modernization in China, which also provides theoretical basis and reference for the western region and the main grain producing areas in China to achieve agricultural modernization at an early date. This paper is using the aging of rural population in China and the agricultural economy in China as the object of study.First of all, summarize the connotation of the rural population aging and agriculture, and study the effect of the rural population aging on agricultural economy by theories.Secondly, describe the current situation, causes, characteristics and trends of the rural population aging, and the status of the agricultural economy in the national economy, and the cultural situation of agricultural labor force, and three regional agricultural economy of the east, central and western areas to research the present situation of the rural population aging and the development of agricultural economy.Thirdly, the paper builds panel model based on C-D production function model to empirically analyze the influence of the rural population aging on the agricultural economy. Finally, put forward some countermeasures and suggestions combined with the analysis of the full text. The results show that a large number of young and middle-aged labor agricultural are migrating to towns, and the rural population aging is much higher than the urban aging level, which gap continues to grow.Agricultural production factors increased year by year, but small-scale operation is still the main mode of agricultural production in China. The deepening of the aging population in rural areas has led to the reduction of the labor supply and the aging of the agricultural labor, which reduces the agricultural productivity and affects the agricultural production negatively. The rural population aging has indirectly caused the increase of the large-scale agricultural production, mechanized operation, and agricultural science and technology application, and slacking down the agricultural production dependence on the labor force, which indirectly promotes the transformation of agricultural production methods and accelerates the process of agricultural modernization. In the empirical study, the eastern region and the central region using the advantages of geographical location, economic development, technology priority application reduces the dependence of agricultural production on the labor force, and alleviates the partial negative impacts of the elderly population.According to the results of the study, some suggestions has been put forward to deal with the impact effects on the agricultural economy which result from the rural population aging problem. These suggestions include sustainable development of urbanization, moderate scale operation on agriculture, improving the rural infrastructure and agricultural modernization equipment, improving the cultural quality of agricultural practitioners, and strengthening the development and promotion on agricultural science and technology research and so on. |
