In recent years, the tire industry develops fast driven by rapid growth of automotive industry, so tire enterprise competition is increasingly fierce. To capture a bigger market, each enterprise not only makes full use of its own resources, but also its external resources, especially the supplier resources to speed up the ability to enhance their competitive advantage.Procurement is the source of the supply chain, supplier management is the root of effective purchasing. It is more important to improve the efficiency of the whole supplier chain through the classification of supplier and supplier performance evaluation of the supplier. To study vendor management, it is necessary to establish a proper vendor management mode first in order to lower the cost, increase efficiency and core competitive power, and finally maximum benefits of the supply chain as a whole.This paper first introduce domestic and foreign research of supplier management based on the theoretical research, and then study the G Company purchasing process and find some problems and the solution from supplier selection to supplier classification and supplier evaluation. The paper includes:(1) Introduces the basic concept and characteristics of supply chain and supplier management, and the supplier management method covered by supplier management theory;(2) Introduces the G company purchasing process and the supplier management at present situation;(3) Found that the G company supplier management problems that exist in the company through theory combining with practice, e.g. lack of supplier classification management and the vendor performance evaluation;(4) Put forward some solution, like: Supplier classification management, supplier evaluation and set up the supplier incentive mechanism.Management of the suppliers must be promoted to a strategic height in order to gain the market recognition in this era. For different enterprises, they must adopt suitable supplier management method and establish win-win situation with supplier by building up the idea of supplier management. And finally promote the competitiveness of the whole supply chain.
