Research On The Relationship Between Corporate Social Responsibility And Financial Performance Of The Agricultural Lisited Companies

The agricultural listed companies have the same characteristics with the general listed companies,and undertaking the same social responsibilities.Because of the particularity of its industry,agricultural products are closely related to the health and life of the consumers.This makes it even more meaningful to study the social responsibility of agricultural listed companies.In recent decades,the agricultural problem of our country is the key problem that the country and the government pay attention to.Frequent negative events of food safety problems occurrences have transferred social public attention.Under the driving of the interests,some agricultural enterprises in our country have not fulfilled their social responsibilities on corporate social ethics,which not only harm the interests of consumers but also the interests of the enterprise itself.Obviously,underlying the external problems,in addition the inadequate government guidance and external regulations,the cognition of the enterprise itself to the social responsibility as well as the enthusiastic pursuit of financial performance,which is belong to the internal problems of the enterprises that cannot be ignored.This paper selects 41 agricultural listed companies from the database,and choose the data from 2010 to 2015 as a sample.Based on the Stakeholder Theory,fulfilling the responsibility of shareholders,creditors,employees,customers,suppliers and the government as the social responsibility of the agricultural listed companies.The rate of assets and the Tobin Q value are taken as the indexes of financial performance of agricultural listed companies.Creating hypothesizes and building the model.And then using descriptive analysis,correlation analysis and regression analysis to research the relationship between corporate social responsibility and financial performance.According to the results of the positive analysis,the following conclusions are obtained.The agricultural listed companies to fulfill their responsibilities to customers and the government is conducive to the improvement of financial performance.While other specific dimensions of social responsibility are have not played an active role in promoting financial performance.Agricultural listed companies to improve the rate of assets can promote the level of corporate social responsibility,while the Tobin Q can’t.Finally,this paper put forward the following suggestions: agricultural listed companies must raise awareness of social responsibility,fulfill the duty of paying taxes actively,safeguard the rights and interests of consumers,establish a good image and improve the management ability and the financial level.
