A Study On Patenting In Western Region Of China With The Perspective Of Supporting Poor Areas Using Technology

In order to clearly analyze the status of licensing and licensing relationship between provinces or cities and analyze the reasons for licensing in the western region in China,I employ the data of licensing in the western region of China by means of social network method with the relevant visualization method.The research methods are as follows:At the beginning,based on the social network method,comparing the licensing technology filed in the western areas in inside,outside and inter western provinces.Furthermore,using the block modeling in social network method,I analyze the structure of the licensing network in the western provinces and classify the roles of the different provinces,especially the non-western provinces in the western licensing network.Moreover,I explore the licensing relationship among western provinces and cities.What is more,based on the spatial theory of patent technology diffusion,I study the reasons of licensing in the western region by means of Quadratic Assignment Problem(QAP)method.I come to the conclusion:First of all,the quantity and the scope of patent licensing are significantly differently in the western provinces.As for the lead-state provinces and potential provinces,their licensing can support their own development while as for the rest provinces,they lack of innovation.Secondly,based on the block modeling method in the social network method,it is concluded that the non-western provinces are the main participants in the technology market and the technology absorbent with high embedding degree respectively in the western patent licensing network.And then,licensing in western provinces mainly concentrates in the province or within city demonstrating significantly the effect of knowledge spillovers localization.Finally,geographical distance and technical proximity have a greater impact on licensing,and social relationship between the two parties of licensing has little effect on licensing.The research expands the application of social network method in the field of technology flow research,and explains some professional meaning for network structure in licensing network.At the same time,the study of this paper distinguishes the different characteristics of the western provinces,and leads to different provisions of poverty alleviation strategies.
