Assessing Entrepreneurial Intentions Among Tanzanian University Students

The objective of this study is to examine entrepreneurial intentions and its antecedents.Specifically,the study tried to-examine the impact of Role Model,Entrepreneurship Education,and the influence of perceptions of feasibility and desirability towards entrepreneurship and the moderating impact of risk perception on entrepreneurial intentions of university students in Tanzania.The quantitative approach was employed as research design.Simple Random sampling technique was used to draw sample from population.Data was collected though online questionnaire and distributed,collected data was analyzed through descriptive statistics,independent t-test,multiple linear regression and correlation analysis.A total of 235 respondents consist our sample.Results suggest that the effect role model and entrepreneurship Education on self-employment intentions is high,but Entrepreneurship education was a better predictor of the student's entrepreneurial intentions.On the contrary,it was found that perceived desirability significantly influenced the relationship of role model-entrepreneurial intentions,while perceived feasibility didn't have any influence on the entrepreneurship education towards entrepreneurial intentions.The result indicated that there is a significant positive relationship exist between perceived risk and perceived feasibility towards student's entrepreneurial intention.From an empirical point of view,the sample was limited to higher education students in one country.This limits the scope of generalization.Further studies,comparing antecedents of intentions and behavior in multiple contexts should be undertaken.
