The Study Of Wu Juenong's Thought On Improving Tea Industry In The Republic Of China Era

The improvement on the tea farmers' livelihood engaged by Wu Juenong is a part of rural improvement cause in modern China.From the perspective of the origin of thought,the improvement cause on the tea farmers' livelihood is closely related to the life experience,world view and national spirit of Wu Juenong's.Wu Juenong realizes clearly that the China tea have gradually declined in the world tea market owing to the stuffiness of China and the modern technology application of Western colonists since the 20 th century.The failure of the tea in the links including production,manufacturing and sales has adverse influence on the tea farmers' livelihood.In order to save the tea farmers' livelihood,Wu Juenong puts forward the basic thought for improvement of tea industry from various aspects such as technology,production organization and political system,wherein,the tea industry cooperation cause and tea industry control are the most important.In his view,the cooperation cause concerns the improvement of rural residents' life,which is the beneficial practice to reform the production relations of western countries in modern times and is helpful for local self-government and scientization of tea industry.Owing to the poor situation of the overall political and social environment,the cooperation cause advocated by Wu Juenong in the aspects including credit,production and sales makes limited achievements,even so,it improves the tea farmers' livelihood to some extent.Wu Juenong thinks that the protection and support of the government on the tea farmers are important in order to reduce the layered exploitation and monopoly,therefore,the government should apply the national power to implement the tea industry control.The tea industry control should base on investigating the overseas tea production technology to strengthen the management on the domestic and foreign trades,limit the quantity and kinds of the tea production and establish the grading standard of tea.As for the tea industry control,firstly,reduce the losses in transportation and sales,try to seek benefits for the tea farmers and then achieve the plan of tea industry revitalization.Under the control of imperialism and feudal monopoly power,the tea industry control encounters with various difficulties while provides some help in improving the tea farmers' livelihood at the beginning of Anti-Japanese War.In the Republic of China era,the improvement cause on the tea farmers' livelihood conducted by Wu Juenong was reasonable and necessary aiming at the reality of livelihood issues,which not only had no conflicts with the political revolution but also “improved and gave support to each other”,in fact,the diligentimprovement causes in rural areas conducted by many intellectual elites since the 1920 s has presented this relation.
