The high-tech companies especially software Research and Development centers are becoming the engine of economic growth and the gathering place of outstanding technical personals.Along with the business development,the requirements of the customers and the complexity of software development are increasing.And there are more issues happened during the progress of software projects.For example,for one software development D company,less than half number of the software projects were delivered on time,and the overdue time even exceeds planned schedule for 30% to 50% for some projects.The software quality was also often comprised because the need to catch up with schedule.This greatly impacted product development efficiency and the market competency.And it needs to be improved immediately.This paper analyzed current statistics of the software project schedule control and quality management,studied the theory and best practices of project management(PRINCE2 project management framework,Agile Development,Analytical Hierarchy Process,and Critical Chain Project Management,etc.),applied the principle of Total Quality Management,emphasized the people factor during project management.This paper then introduced statistics and issues with D company’s software development,organization structure,and project management.By comparing the principles and the best practices to D company’s status in schedule control and quality management,there were several items identified so D company can improve its schedule control and quality management,including applying PRINCE2,conducting Agile development practices,refining development and testing process,restructuring the organization,and applying Total Quality Management.Thus,the overall requirements on schedule control and quality requirement can be met. |
