DEA-based Supplier Evaluation Study

In modern manufacturing industry, how to integrate the supply chain as much as possible, reduce the production cost and management cost, and improve enterprise's competition ability in the industry, has become the focus of many enterprises. Domestic large and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises have the demand and motivation to modify the supply chain and further management of supplier relationships. And now, with the foreign enterprises rapidly entering the domestic market, how the domestic enterprises themselves to strengthen the whole control of supply chain, and improve the overall industrial competitiveness have become more urgent. The supplier evaluation management is an important part of supply chain management, a good supplier evaluation management system is a important factor in the success of a supply chain management, thus, an excellent supplier evaluation system have significant implications in improving domestic manufacturing industry competitiveness.This paper analyzed the H company,a medium-sized manufacturing enterprises in Guiyang, through the Super-efficiency DEA and Context-dependent DEA method, evaluated the performance of some supplier's quality, price, service, deliverability, supplier's capability and supplier relationships from June to September. Based on the analyzing of samples through context dependent method, the suppliers could be divided into different levels for classification management. By integrating the difference of super efficiency, attractiveness and progress, the different levels of suppliers are ranked more detailed, which gives an intuitive understanding of the enterprise, provides implementation basis for different incentive system to supplier, and provides important reference for the appropriate supplier selection.According to the evaluation and classification of suppliers of H company, the basis and templates for evaluating their suppliers has been provided for the future manufacturing enterprises.Through evaluating 15 suppliers of H company, the study has found the best and the worst supplier accounted for a relatively small portion, most of suppliers are in the middle level. This paper presents relevant management advices for H company according to three different levels of suppliers. Strengthening the control and cooperation of high-quality suppliers and warning the lower level suppliers by different ways of management, to achieve the optimization of enterprise management resources, and the improvement of industrial competitiveness of enterprises from various aspects.
