Corn is one of the most important food crops in the world,it has widely distribution,at present,the yield of corn is more than that of wheat and rice,and it was the largest production of grain crops in the world,also the corn trading volume is only second to wheat.C hina as an important country of corn production and consumption,Living in the world’s second after the United States.In recent years,the production and yield per harvested acre of corn in C hina increased gradually,and with the rapid development of animal husbandry and corn processing industry,The use of corn is very Diversification.More and more corn is used as fodder and processing of raw materials,Its consumption is also growing.With C hina’s entry into WTO,the world trade in corn continues to expand,and Competition in the corn market is becoming more and more intense,China’s corn supply and demand imbalance.C hina from a net exporter of corn into a net importer of corn in 2010,Corn trade deficit is more serious.The United States as the world’s largest producer and consumer of corn,Its trade volume ranks first in the world,Comparison of China’s corn with the United States,Analysis of the international competitive advantage of the corn and The main factors affecting the international competitiveness of C hina’s corn,It has important practical significance for our country to recognize the current situation of the international competitiveness of corn,formulate reasonable and effective policy measures,and how to improve the international competitiveness of corn.In this paper,we adopt quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis and comparative analysis methods,It analyzes the status of production and trade of the world corn and C hina as well as the United States of America corn.O n this basis,Through the comparative analysis of the production efficiency,operation scale,production technology,quality,value added ability and industrial policy of C hina and the United States,and use the Revealed Comparative Advantage index,Internetional Market Share index and Trade Competitiveness index to Comparison and Analysis on the competitiveness of corn.Draw conclusions,that the international competitiveness of C hina’s corn is poor,and the Competitive advantage is not obvious,the specific performance for high production costs,high prices;low level of mechanization,low yields,poor quality,low relative competitiveness index and the relevant policies of corn are not perfect.According to the research conclusions,proposed the policy recommendations on improving the international competitiveness of C hina’s corn.First,Reduce production cost of corn,Improve the efficiency of Maize Production;second,implement moderate scale management of land;third,Adjusting corn production structure;Fourth,increase investment in science and technology of corn;Fifth,cultivation of new agricultural business entities;Sixth,to strengthen the intensity of subsidies for corn;Seventh,improve the corn trade policy.
