The tertiary industry is taking a larger proportion in economy, and the service sector and service trade are of greater importance to economic growth. As an important measure of comprehensive competitiveness, a country/region's competitiveness in service sector and service trade is playing a very active role in economic development.Against such a background, this Thesis adopts the theories of international competitiveness and domestic regional competitiveness, and analyses the competitiveness of Suzhou's service sector.Based on the existing research results in the competitiveness of service sector and the statistics from Suzhou's service sector, this Thesis constructs an evaluation model for Suzhou's regional competitiveness as well as a system of indices that evaluates Suzhou's international competitiveness. By analyzing various elements that affect its competitiveness, this Thesis identifies the strategic development goals of Suzhou's service sector, its strategic focus, and strategic measures to promote its development.
