Y Company Lean Production Implementation Program Research

With the development of economy and technology, and the frequent changing requirements from the market,competition between companies become more and more fierece. In those new situations, Y Manufacturing Corporation's original production method can not meet current international market requirements. Therefore, how to develop a new production management of high quality and high efficiency at low cost is a core for this company at present.Lean Production can date back to the production method used in Toyota in the1950s and currently it is advocated and imitated in various manufacturing fields. As a proved successful production management, Lean method can greatly reduce the idle time, and eliminate all kinds of wastes in the manufacturing process and buffer, hence improving the company's competition. The thesis presented Lean Production plan basis on the studying of Lean Production theroy and the present situation of Y Corporation, including the selection of the test unit in the initial stage, specific implementation trategies, the investigation of the current production, the analysis and studies of relevant cases, target setting, and the visual management, one-piece flow production, process improvement, standardization of operations, reducing production lead time, Kanban pull systems, equipment KAIZEN, tooling and tool KAIZEN, quality KAIZEN in the specific implementation process. Meanwhile, It evaluates some Lean index including cycle time, quality, cost and equipment utilization ratio to find existing problems and propose improving plans correspondingly. This thesis presented a detailed and operational solution for Y Manufacturing Corporation to change its traditional production management to Lean manufacturing method through cases studies; therefore, it can be used as a reference for further implement for production management in the whole company.
