With the increasing in computer hardware systems and the declining in hardware product prices,Virtual Reality(VR)and large-scale 3D applications are becoming more and more popular,the technology that was only available in the graphics workstation previously has gradually begun to apply to PC.In order to enhance the realism and immersion of virtual reality products and 3D applications,it is often necessary to reach a more realistic simulation of the natural scenery.Water as a part of the natural,it has a vital position to enhance the authenticity and coordination of the entire natural scene.At the same time,water simulation can also be applied to hydrological observation,through different terrain,different weather conditions,it can help people understand the ocean and river movement,so as to prevent natural disasters caused by water.With the continuous expansion of water simulation,there are a lot of corresponding algorithms,therefore,it need to choose different algorithms according to different scenarios.When it is applied to scientific research,often need more emphasis on accuracy,you can choose simulation algorithm based on physical,Such as Moving Particle Semi-implicit(LPS),Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics(SPH),etc;when it is applied to interactive systems,it tend to pay more attention to real-time,so you can choose normal mapping,Gerstner Waves,FFT(Fast Fourier Transform),and so on.This paper focuses on the real-time simulation of water.Although some real-time simulation algorithm has achieved good results,there are also some shortcomings.To deal with these problems,this paper proposed to use polynomial function to simulate the water wave motion,it overcomes the problem of forming the ring at the peak of the Gerstner wave.It also overcomes some other problems in trigonometric function superposition algorithm,so it can be better applied to the real-time system.The common optical phenomena in the process of simulating water wave motion can further enhance the sense of reality,which is very important to enhance the immersion of virtual scene.
