Due to the advantage of wide frequency bandwidth of millimeter wave,the related technology has been widely used in modern radar and communication systems.The developing 5th-Generation mobile communication system has been incorporated into the millimeter wave communication band,aiming to achieve a very high speed communication within short range.Therefore,the development of low-loss,broadband,and easy-integration of millimeter wave waveguide structure is an important issue in the field of electromagnetism.The novel transmission line GWG(Gap Waveguide)is proposed for this motivation.Based on the background of millimeter wave,the corresponding GWG array antenna with high gain,high integration and narrow beam is studied.This paper focuses on the research of GWG array antenna for millimeter wave.Three antenna arrays fed by different GWG structures are designed in this paper.The main work of this paper is as follows:1.E-band and W-band transmission line design:this part is based on the traditional guided wave structure by introducing air as the transmission medium to reduce the dielectric loss at high frequency.The research focuses on the new GWG technology,and analysis of its structure and transmission mode.Finally,a variety of GWG transmission lines are designed.2.Antenna array realized by metal using GWG technology:a novel circular polarization slot antenna using ridge gap waveguide technology is presented.Moreover,a 4×1 linear slot array is also designed.3.Antenna arrays based on the LTCC and PCB technology of millimeter wave:this part two large scale 32×16 array antennas are designed using two different processes respectively.The feeding network design uses GWG with low-loss transmission characteristics.The two array antennas are studied by the variation of the parameters such as gain,bandwidth and radiation pattern.4.The performance of two antenna arrays is compared.The method of reducing sidelobe for antenna array is introduced,which focuses on the design of GWG unequal power divider.
