An unique cultural phenomenon gradually formed. By analyzing the characteristic of danmu and danmu culture, this paper will reveal the essence of the subculture, thus achieve the goal of interpreting danmu from the perspective of subculture.This paper first introduced briefly the concept and origin of danmu, danmu video and danmu video site. Then this paper carried on the morphological analysis to danmu from three aspects of text type, form of showing and function with concrete contents of danmu as examples. Danmu has different types and forms of showing; users can selectively block bad danmu. Audience's different way of feedback and communication makes the danmu video presents a proliferation of propagation mode, which is also the breakthrough of traditional linear propagation mode. Danmu not only has the function of narrative, rendering features, but also brings the experience of watching type to the audience, which enhances the audience's initiative and interactivity.This paper focuses on the specific analysis of the characteristics of danmu culture, showing the subculture picture of danmu, and forming a glimpse of the subcultural nature of danmu First of all, the audience within the danmu sites gathered for the same interests and hobbies. They produce and move videos independently in danmu sites; carry the division of labor on the basic of cultural capital; and discipline themselves consciously, forming an orderly tribal ecology.Secondly, the audience's "secondary production" to the original videotext not only changed the relationship between the text and the audience, but also surpassed the value significance of the original text. Finally, the entertainment property of danmu culture gradually eliminates its rebellious spirit in the new media environment. The danmu family gently against the mainstream society in their entertainment. Danmu practice also makes the danmu family obtained personal identity and sense of belonging. Postmodern cultural context, danmu technical support and psychological motivation of the audience affected the forming of danmu subculture.Besides the conflict, danmu culture and the mainstream culture also have interaction and blending. On the one hand, because of the advantage of highly interaction and the ability to meet the new demand of audience, danmu has influenced the ways and channels of mass culture production; on the other hand, mass culture has had an impact on the production and consumption of danmu culture. As the survival platform of danmu culture, danmu video sites have also appeared in the popularization of transformation.The development of danmu remains to be seen, but factors such as young users, the development of new technology have made the future of danmu a major concern. This paper just wants to add studies from the angle of subculture to the topic of danmu, which was less researched in academic world.
