Nowadays, realistic model in crowd evacuation simulation with large numbers of pedestrians is more and more important, and the related technology has also been in considerable progress. A vivid character model in the simulation can effectively attract the attention of observers, so the requirement for this kind of model is rapidly increasing. Usually the realistic of character model is proportional to its complexity, thus a character model with high quality will undoubtedly increases the cost of the system. Therefore, it's necessary to find a method to simplify the character model in crowd simulation and retain the realistic of the model as much as possible.At present, the character model in the animation simulation is usually with rough surface,and the need a lot of relevant information. Scholars present different simplified methods for different model features. But it is found that there is a contradiction between simplifying the characters model, especially the head of the model, and keeping the realistic of the model at the same time. To solve the problems of high cost and low accuracy in traditional modeling method,this paper puts forward a modeling method to solve these problems. The main work and innovation of this paper are listed as follows.(1) In this paper, we propose a modeling method according to the feature of the character model based on Kinect. The head and torso of character model will be modeled respectively. A pretreatment and simplified method is put forward to get the realistic head model according to the feature of the head model, then selecting the matching body model to finish the connection.Through the modeling method we can quickly obtain a distinct diversity model.(2) The method to simplify the model is based on edge curvature and area error, and it will reserves the local feature of the model, then a realistic simplified model is obtained.(3) Aiming at the characteristics of the connection between the head and torso, this paper introduces a fusion method based on border edge and interactive mesh fusion with local 3D metamorphosis. The results of experiments show that this method can quickly reconstruct diversity model and it will not increase the complexity of the model.Combined with corresponding research project, we applied the above theory to the modeling process in the crowd evacuation simulation system. The system mainly includes the preferences, the simulation control, camera control and rendering output four modules. The model will be imported to the simulation platform, and then we can observe the realistic movement scene and analysis the crowd movement.
