| As we all know,chemistry is an experiment-based natural science.Its outstanding "experimental" and "exploratory" characteristics determine the main methods and main content of chemistry teaching.Lhasa is located in the western part of China.The information technology is relatively backward,the science base of students is poor,and language barriers are added.As a result,Lhasa Junior Middle School chemistry experiment teaching has been a shortcoming for a long time.In order to promote the development of education in Tibet,the autonomous region has issued a number of policy documents for deepening reforms,stressing that it is necessary to strengthen physics and chemistry in secondary schools and experimental teaching.Chemistry and experimental teaching are important components of science teaching in middle schools.Its teaching achievements are an important manifestation of the achievements made in Tibet’s education reform.This article investigates the current situation of junior middle school chemistry experiment teaching in Lhasa using questionnaires,natural observation methods,and interviews.The survey found that there are the following problems in the junior middle school chemistry experiment teaching in Lhasa:(1)The experimental equipment and facilities are incomplete,and the necessary chemicals and reagents are lacking and it is difficult to meet the teaching needs.(2)The laboratory has limited opening hours and low utilization rate.(3)The experimental teaching method is old and rigid.Most of them are based on demonstration experiments and lack innovation in response to local conditions.(4)The arrangement of experimental teaching content is irrational.(5)The perfect experimental teaching evaluation mechanism has not yet been established.(6)There is a shortage of experimental teaching resources.The experimental teaching resources mainly come from teaching materials and rarely come from extracurricular.(7)The students’ chemistry base and scientific literacy are low and it is difficult to achieve the purpose of experimental teaching.(8)The experimental teaching ability of chemistry teachers needs to be improved.Based on the problems existing in the chemistry experiment teaching in Lhasa City,this article proposes targeted countermeasures from higher education authorities,schools,and teachers.Mainly reflected in the competent departments should pay attention to experimental teaching functions,strengthen supervision and guidance;based on in-depth study of the requirements of the curriculum standards,carefully compiled localized experimental teaching materials;increase investment in experimental teaching funding,optimize laboratory construction and management.Schools should reform the teacher training and reward mechanism,build a high-quality education team,and create a multi-dimensional assessment system for multi-subject content to promote students’ all-round development.Teachers should innovate and apply a variety of teaching methods to increase students’ interest in chemistry learning;strive to improve their scientific literacy,promote the professional development of teachers,and ultimately promote the long-term and healthy development of professional teachers. |
