University rankings gain more and more popularity and became the one of the most important measures to evaluate the quality of higher education around the world since The US News began providing information about American best university in1983.With the development of higher education popularization and and the expansion of university scale,the quality of higher education has become an increasing concern in recent years.As a way of evaluation,university rankings has become a very vital way of requiring higher education’s information and situation.In the process of getting attention,it also causes dabates at the same time.Indicator sysytem which is the major part of university ranking usually becomes the core of the dispute.The paper mainly focus on Chinese University’s evaluation of Guangdong Management Academy of Scientific Institute,Chineses university rankings of alumni associations and Chinese best university of Shanghai Ruanke Education Consultant Information Company.Through the analysis of contents and comparison,it aims to discusses the actual influence on university rankings of different indicators system and how to treat university rankings scientifically and reasonably.The paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly expounds the research background,research purpose,research significance,concept definition,literature review and research design.The second chapter systematically combs the evolution of the indicator system of the three major domestic university rankings,and summarizes the characteristics of the indicator system through the evolution of the indicator system.The third chapter compares the indicator system of the three major domestic university rankings from the setting ideas,setting principles,structure and specific content.The fourth chapter is a case study.Firstly,it makes an overall comparison based on the correlation analysis of the sample universities’ rankings.Then,it takes some universities in Shanghai and one university in Shanghai for example to analyze the actual influence on university ranking of different indicator systems.The fifth chapter is conclusion and discussion,which briefly explore the characteristics and existing problems of the three major rankings indicator system,as well as the enlightenment of the international rankings on the improvement of the indicator system of the university rankings in our countryand the rational attitude that all sectors of the society should have. |
