Textbook is special processed materials which is selected from the certain social culture,and it is not only the carrier of knowledge and skills,but also is the carrier of ideas and values.In the selection of selected all kind of content,textbooks will be necessarily melt into the mainstream of social values.All the characters in the textbook with its own mission,stands for the advocacy quality and behaviour,shaping and presentation of different image can also reflect certain selection on valuation.This paper is about the analysis of the value orientation of primary school Chinese textbooks-the "Compulsory Education Curriculum Standard Experimental Textbook·Chinese" 1~12 books which were published by the People’s Education Press in 2001.This research discusses the basic characteristics of our primary school Chinese textbook from the perspective of image and behaviour of moral character,and give some suggestion.The full text is divided into four parts.The first part summarizes the domestic and overseas scholars’ research status about textbook and defines the relates concepts of this study.The second part research previous literature and related documents,and then build the value orientation of the analytical framework: four latitudes and five longitudes used in this study.The third part use the analytical frame analysis value orientation of the first ten sets of primary school Chinese textbook,five conclusions are drawn from the analysis of the frequency of moral behavior categories and the data of character image building.The fourth part put forward improvement by analysis and conclusion.Four thinking points of the study of Chinese textbook: 1.character selection of textbook should properly augment personage of nature connection;2.as the grade increase,characters should enhance complexity,early stages need more single and first-person perspective image,senior stages need more complicated and diversified image;3.lower grade should reveal the cause or motive of occurrence and transformation of the character’ behavior;4.the choice of characters should reduce the conflict between mainstream altruistic thought and the law of student moral development.
